Now I know the culprit for my frequent headaches – TMJ (TemporoMandibular Joint) syndrome. I had several vertigo and migraine attacks before and my HMO referred me to a neurologist. But I had conflicting schedule so I did not have the chance to consult one. A year ago, I consulted an EENT specialist in Batangas City because of the consistent ringing sound on my left ear. It came to a point that it was so distracting and uncomfortable. The doctor prescribed me some medicines and it cured the discomfort. Six months later, it reoccured. I bought the same meds and poof, all is well again.
So I thought that it was just a random case. I also thought that it may be an after effect of prolonged wearing of headsets. (Yup, in-house Technical Support Engineer here, in layman’s term – call center agent!) I also blamed stress for the numbness of my shoulder blades and back pains. Then one time, everything went black. I literally collapsed at home, must be the stress, vertigo, migraine, anything or all of the above.
I’m already resigned from being a TSE. Now I have all the time for fun, business and check up!
I made a research about my case until I stumbled upon a TMJ page. Guess what I’ve read! Most of the symptoms qualified me for TMJ. Ouch.
This time, I’ve spent my money not for shopping but for TMJ treatment. Procedures include standard panoramic radiograph, TMJ tomography and diagnostic study cast.
I am now wearing the appliance, should be worn 24/7! Hopefully the therapy can make me feel better and correct my case.
